Julian-Guthrie.com is the website of Julian Guthrie Architecture Ltd. Julian has been a director of the practice since 1999.

Julian Guthrie leads a team of Architects and architecture graduates, specialising in the design of innovative and enduring private homes and beach houses. 

Julian’s work has received numerous awards from the New Zealand Institute of Architects, and been published extensively in both local and international publications.

Philosophy

We approach each project as a unique opportunity to create a building that best expresses the qualities of the site and the clients brief. We collaborate closely with our clients throughout the design and construction stages, and are generally responsible for the interior design of the homes to ensure a cohesive design outcome. Our buildings are light filled and explore the blurring of indoor and outdoor spaces to express the New Zealand lifestyle. 

We favour simple, linear modernist architecture and the use of beautiful natural materials.

Our aim is to make the process of designing and building a home as exciting and rewarding for our clients as it is for us. We place great importance on producing the highest quality of documentation to assist the building contractors to achieve a beautiful and enduring building.
